The Lesson in Four Walls.
Surroundings.
Look around. You have all you need to get going and to thrive along this journey of creativity. Do you believe that?
We have recently experienced a challenging season where our horizons felt limited by the very four walls many of us were forced to look at. Even in this, there was and is more to glean than you may realize.
Eyes Wide Open.
Consider those four walls. Your space is made up of much more than that. Look up and look down. What do you see?
What are the textures of your surroundings? The colors? Let your hand glide across those walls. Let your hand glide across a favorite chair or the couch. Take the time to do this right now.
Now, look out your window (again). What do you see? Are you surrounded by repetition of form? Grays and browns? Greens and blue? Lines or blocks of color?
What of your surroundings jumps out at you after all you became accustomed to? Is it difficult to see with fresh eyes? What do you appreciate more?
Now, find a writing utensil. Hold it in your hand, and imagine all of the artwork and books that have been completed with this one, simple thing. Many times we look for more and think we need more. The real challenge and joy is to see what can be with what is there.
